Cleaning & Sealing of Victorian tiles
Once all the damaged tiles have been replaced the finishing procedure is the clean & seal.
First the floor is buffed using a rotary machine with pads and water to get into the surface pores of the tiles and give it a deep clean, this will remove years of ingrained dirt and any sealer that was used before. Often boiled linseed oil and wax was used and this can form a thick layer. The floor is left to dry for a few days and then sealed using a deep pore sealer ensuring that the floor is resistant to another couple of decades of foot traffic.
